Duckie wants clinical finishing against Cavalier
Having lost their second game of the season to Humble Lion last weekend, Mount Pleasant FA head coach Donovan Duckie said his team needs to be a lot more clinical in front of goal when they face Cavalier in their Red Stripe Premier League game on Sunday at the Stadium East field. Mount Pleasant, who have shown themselves to be one of the contenders for the title so far, were suffering their second home defeat of the season. However, Duckie said his team is pumped up for Sunday’s contest and they are looking forward to giving a good account of themselves.
“It is just another game and we know what we will be going up against, a ball handling team that moves the ball very quickly. They have a lot of national youth players and they are very experienced, and we are going there to play well, and, hopefully, we will get a result,” said Duckie. “It (the defeat) is not a setback because as you lose a game, you learn. We have a long season in front of us,” he said.
Mount Pleasant are currently tied with Tivoli Gardens for second spot in the standings with 13 points, one behind leaders and defending champions Portmore United. Duckie added that his team has prepared well for the game and he is confident that they can take home all three points. “We are looking forward to the game, we are training well, and our confidence is intact and we are looking forward to a good encounter,” said Duckie. “I think we will have to concentrate more, because it was a few seconds left to go when we lost to Humble Lion, and we have to be more clinical,” he said. Cavalier, who are coming off a 1-1 draw against Dunbeholden, are fourth in the table on 11 points.
