Teno Murray shooting for football fame
Twenty-one-year-old Teno Murray has an undying love for sports; however, football is at the top of his list.
Murray, a student at the Knox Community College, also dabbles in basketball, track and field and cricket.
Though he was not on his primary or high school football teams, he watched the sport keenly and would then put what he saw into practice.
“I watched them first and copied what they did,” he said.
Murray is currently on the Knox Community College football team and is so naturally talented, he has played as forward, in midfield and in defence. He, however, prefers playing forward.
He recently competed in the Intercollegiate Football Competition as well as the Council of Voluntary Social Services Summer Games, where he believes he gave a good account of himself.
He trains every day and he is currently going into training for a club called Hill Star. Football has also taught him to work with his peers.
Murray further added that, “Whenever I have games they (family and community) come over and watch and shout out. They encourage me that I am a good player and I should continue.”
Murray has big dreams and has his eyes set on playing in France or Portugal, and hopes to try out for the Reggae Boyz and play in the Red Stripe Premier League.
“I always dream that one day I’ll become a professional footballer. I admire Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi,” he said.
And those dreams may not be far-fetched as his talent has caught the eye of sports fans.
As one of his supporters said, “the skills weh him have, he shouldn’t be at this level”.
