Not too worried about points – Speid

- AKINO MING Staff Reporter

With 12 points and fourth place in the Red Stripe Premier League table, Cavalier SC are slightly off the target their technical director Rudolph Speid set to achieve before the end of the first round.

“I am a bit disappointed to be behind where we really want to be in terms of points. We wanted to get at least 21 points at the end of the first round and we only have 12 points and it will be a little bit an uphill struggle to get there,” Speid said.

“But I am not too worried about points. What I am pleased about is the way the team is playing and we are getting better as the season goes on, so it is going to get harder for teams to compete against us and that is what is important for me.”

UNDERMANNED TEAM

Speid was impressed by his young charges’ display against the fancy Mount Pleasant Football Academy team after they pulled off a gutsy 1-1 draw on Sunday with an undermanned team, as five of his players are off the island on national duty with the Under-20 team.

The veteran coach will again be without some of his key players when they take on the struggling Harbour View FC this afternoon at Compound as the Under-20 players will not be back in time for the fixture and Jermy Nelson will be serving a suspension for a red card.

“Harbour View are going to be tough because usually the most dangerous time to play a side in this league is when they are struggling. They are going to try hard to find a way to hit back. But we are going there to play well and we are desperately in need of the three points,” Speid said.
