Dunbeholden to hunt striker in January

Dunbeholden FC head coach Michael Cohen said he will be going in search of a striker when the transfer window opens in January, in order to turn around the team’s lacklustre season. “We would like to get a striker or two who can score goals, because the truth is that we have not been capitalising on the chances that we have been creating. That is why are in this position,” he said. At the end of the first round of the 2018-19 Red Stripe Premier League season, the newly promoted club is rooted at the bottom of the table. The St Catherine-based club is constantly reminded of the nagging statistic, which suggests that one of the two promoted teams to the RSPL will be relegated after their first season. And with fellow promoted club Mount Pleasant Academy riding the crest of a wave after spending lavishly in the off season, all fingers are pointing at Dunbeholden to exit the league at the end of this season.

“I am not nervous about where we are, because if you look at the tables, then you would notice that if we win two games, then we are back in the middle,” Cohen said.

Dunbeholden are on seven points with a minus six goal difference. They are two points behind Harbour View and three points behind Montego Bay United.

They will host league leaders and defending champions Portmore United at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday.
