Queen Tress says she’s

-

Reggae songstress Queen Tress is on the move, promoting her new song ‘No Sugar Mama’. The song, she says, is based on a personal experience she had in a previous relationship, which she quickly ended because she realised that the man was trying to use her. “The song tells a man how he should not be, so if you want a woman, you should behave better. Women should know that they deserve more, because relationships are more than just taking – it should go both ways,” she said. The reception to the track has been positive, and she has been getting rave reviews from fans and friends alike. “When I play it for friends, they love it! It’s really funny, it is about boys that are not really doing anything, you’re doing everything and he does nothing – he’s just lazy and wants financial gains, things like that,” she added.

The track is one of five songs that will be featured on her upcoming debut EP On My Mind, which is slated to be released early next year.

The Sweden-born singer-poet just completed a radio tour in London to promote the EP, with previously released tracks such as Turn Back Time, which features reggae singer Jah Vinci, and her next official release Who Is She, a collaboration with dancehall artiste G Whizz.

Having fallen in love with the genre, Queen Tress is now aiming to continue the spread of reggae music in her home country, Sweden, where it is quite popular.

She has married the genre with her culture by integrating her native language with the reggae sound, which can be heard on the track with Turbulence, Underneath It All.

On My Mind features all original songs with lyrics penned by her. Describing herself as a go-getter, she says, “If I fail, I will try again. I tell people not to give up; believe in yourself.”
