Molynes remain perfect in RSPL

Debutants Molynes United continued their perfect start to the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season yesterday after they clipped Dunbeholde­n 1-0 in the fifth found of games at the Royal Lakes Complex. With their fifth win from as many games, Molynes lead the RSPL standing with maximum 15 points.

Orane Ferguson scored the game’s only goal in the 34th minute for the Lijyasu Simmscoach­ed side, who are five points clear of second-place Waterhouse. Waterhouse were not in action due to a Concacaf League commitment this week in Honduras.

Meanwhile, goals from Cory Burke and Rondee Smith carried Portmore United to their second successive win to ease the pressure on coach Ricardo Gardner. They defeated nineman Humble Lion on Burke’s 17th-minute goal and Smith’s 53rd-minute strike.

The Clarendon club lost two players to red cards in the final minutes after Levaughn Williams (89th) and Kirk Duckworth (90+4) were given straight marching orders.

The result lifted the champions out of the relegation zone and into

seventh place.

JAWS OF DEFEAT

At Drax Hall, Latroy Laing’s added time equaliser snatched hosts Mount Pleasant from the jaws of defeat, after they came back to draw 2-2 with Arnett Gardens. Paul Wilson fired Arnett in front after 11 minutes but Jameil Hardware tied the score after 25 minutes. Javoni Simms restored Arnett’s advantage in the 75th minute but Laing’s goal in the second minute of added time ensured a point for the Paul ‘Tegat’ Davis coached team.

Vere United started life under Vassell Reynolds with a 1-1 draw with Harbour View at Wembley stadium. Xahne Reid put the hosts ahead 22 minutes into the contest but Jahshaun Anglin got Harbour View’s equaliser on the hour mark, to prevent a second consecutiv­e defeat for the Stars of the East.

Cavalier will entertain UWI in the Monday night fixture at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Kick off time is 8.30.

Harbour View are in third spot in the league with seven points. Mount Pleasant, Humble Lion, Dunbeholde­n and Portmore are all on six, while UWI and Arnett have five points each.
