Reggae artiste Ras Bogle’s latest track, ‘Nuh Damaged Goods’, speaks to females who modify their bodies by way of surgical procedures.

“The sistren dem need to open dem eyes, the ones that bleach dem skin and, of late, those that make the mistake going under the knife and ah abuse dem body,” he told

When the skin bleaching culture became a common trend, artistes like Mr Vegas, Queen Ifrica and more recently Spice, released songs that tackled the issue.

Ras Bogle said, “This is a matter that needs to be addressed and I am one of the first, doing my part by hitting out against it in this track.”

He continued: “The message may not be accepted or not (it may not be) so nice. But how I put it together, I don’t expect to get any backlash. But if I do, I am ready for it. Being in the music industry over 11 years trains

you for this; as a musician you cannot be too thin-skinned.”

By taking the track in the direction of his first love, dancehall, he says he wants to target the females in the community that have done surgery.

He is known for the hit Woman of the Year, which praised women. He decided to do another song to get the attention of female listeners.

In Nuh Damaged Goods, he deejays, ‘As sexy as deh body deh carve out, nuff man still nah fall in love wid the artwork’.

He said that “man might fall in love with looks but after getting to know the woman, not trying to create controversy or call out any specific female, but to say, at the end of the day a man wants a real woman inside him bed.”

The single is picking up momentum in the streets, which he anticipates will inspire change when it reaches the right set of ears.

“I want people to know I choose the topic because I care; what many women don’t see is once dem do dem body, there is always a possibility dem going need to go back to repair the damage…even the surgeon dem say it. Nothing wrong with wanting to look good. All I am saying is your body is a gift from God, don’t abuse it or choose that unhealthy fake breasts and fake bottoms lifestyle,” he said.
