Patrons will be safe at Ghetto Splash – promoter

Promoter Patrick Roberts says the Waterhouse area is not experiencing any flare up in criminal activities and therefore he does not anticipate anything to go wrong when Ghetto Splash gets under way tonight.

But, with the annual event expected to attract its usual ‘bumper-to-bumper’ crowd, Roberts is not leaving anything to chance and has put extra security measures in place ahead of the event.

“We had a security meeting with Superintendent Wayne Cameron, head of St Andrew South police the other day and we went through the security measures for the event. People should know that we take security very seriously at Ghetto

Splash. We want people to come out and enjoy themselves and not have to worry about anything happening,” he said. “We have a reputation for one of the safest events in Jamaica and we don’t take that lightly. In addition to the police’s presence, we have also hired our own private security for the show. Even though the area is calm, we are leaving nothing to chance.”

LOADED LINE-UP

Roberts also disclosed that a few more acts have added to an already loaded line-up, including a special internationally acclaimed act.

“We’ve added Munga Honorable, I-Octane and Wayne Marshall as well as a special act.

The person has indicated to me that they want to be there and they are in the island but we want to be 100 per cent sure it’s a go before we announce who it is. What I can say is that if this person shows up, it will be a special moment at Ghetto Splash 30th anniversary. This person has done so much for our music on an international level and remains a crowd favourite among his own people. It’s definitely something to look forward to,” Roberts told THE STAR.

In addition to the above named acts, artistes such as Daddy1, Tarrus Riley, Popcaan, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Dexta Daps and many more are expected to perform.
