Macka Diamond excited about Portmore Music Fest
The organisers of Portmore Music Fest (PMF) are urging Jamaicans and visitors to add the festival to their calendars of must-attend events for December.
The event takes place on Saturday, December 28, at the UDC Car Park, Portmore, St Catherine.
In its fourth year, the festival has seen the musical talent of international stars like Sean Kingston, Capleton, Sean Paul, Spragga Benz, Baby Cham, and Tarrus Riley.
On the line-up for this year’s staging are recording artistes from the ‘90s to the present, including Sean Paul, Mega Banton, D’Angel, Chi Ching Ching, I Wayne, Lutan Fyah, Quada, Rally Banks, Ikaya, Jafrass and Macka Diamond.
“I have great expectations of the festival. I am excited, actually. I just want the people to come and full-joy a performance that will include a diverse set of my music and maybe have a surprise, too,” Macka Diamond told THE STAR.
Tameka Chevannes, publicist for the event, said that the music festival is rooted in the promotion of culture and attracting residents of the large urban area.
“The show was conceptualised by Steve Billings, who realised the limited platforms for the up-andcoming as well as established artistes in the Portmore, St Catherine, area,” Chevannes said.
She said that the PMF has expanded to give fashion designers, artisans, food vendors, and restaurants in and around the area the opportunity to benefit from the event.
Part proceeds from the event will go to the charitable organisations Mothers in Crisis Foundation, and the Portmore Self-Help Disability Organisation.
