JC, Dupont star at kids football Jamboree

Jamaica College, Dupont Primary and Newtech all won their respective agegroup finals on penalties at the Great Kids in Action (GKIA) football jamboree held at the Baldwin Crescent football field in Duhaney Park last Saturday.
Jamaica College defeated Charlton Academy 1-0 on penalties after the under13 decider ended 0-0 after regulation time. The under-10 title went to Olympic Gardensbased Dupont Primary, who turned back Spanish Town Primary 6-5 on penalties, while Techmax defeated Norbrook Academy 1-0, also on penalty kicks, after their match also ended 0-0 after regular time.
Organiser Tynese Miller told STAR Sports that even though this year’s edition of the tournament was shortened, it was a success.
“It was definitely a big step up from last year. I was pretty much pleased,” she told STAR Sports. “The spectators came out and were fully entertained by the younger players, and most of the coaches said they had a wonderful time and loved the exposure they got for their kids.
“They came to give the kids exposure and they (coaches) really loved it (tournament), and are asking for more and promised any tournament I host they will attend,” Miller said.
Like every event the GKIA football Jamboree had it share of difficulties, however, she believed that the competition served it purposes and everyone really enjoyed themselves and the competition on the day.
