Nelson enjoying life on the north coast

Mount Pleasant’s latest acquisition Jeremy Nelson has already settled in to his new surroundings at the St Ann-based club and is relishing the opportunity to contribute to his new team’s title chase in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) this season.

The midfielder made his third start for his new team last Thursday in Mount Pleasant’s 2-0 win over Tivoli Gardens at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

Nelson was part of the twoplayer transfer from promoted team Molynes United in order to stabilise the club’s finances, with Ryan Brown also being sold to Mount Pleasant. He told STAR Sports that the change in atmosphere is a breath of fresh air considering the state of which he left his former club.

“These group of guys are more motivated. We are like one family. At Molynes, there was too much war. There was no love,” Nelson told STAR Sports. “The guys have welcomed me. It’s a nice family I am with now and it’s a good football team.”

It has been far from the season that he expected initially when he and his older brother, Nicholas, returned to the club from Cavalier in order to take part in Molynes United debut season as a premier league club. After victories in their first six games of the season, they wouldn’t win another RSPL fixture until December 23, prevailing over league leaders Waterhouse.

PREMIER LEAGUE STATUS

Younger brother Jeremy recognises the task that Nicholas has in ensuring that he helps to maintain the club’s premier league status as Molynes’s captain. Although they will no long be playing together, it has not stopped him but giving Nicholas encouragement as he leads Molynes as captain.

“I told him, heads up. Keep on fighting. He is doing that well and I wish him good luck for the [rest of the season],” he said.

Mount Pleasant are currently in second place in the league with 44 points, two points away from Waterhouse. They will have more than a week to prepare for their next game against relegation threatened UWI FC on February 16.
