Best of the Best postponed to 2021
The organisers of Best of the Best (BOTB) have announced the postponement of this year’s edition due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
With very few signs of this virus abating, the event’s planners told THE STAR that it would be extremely difficult to predict when a sense of normality will return to the entertainment scene; therefore, the event will be pushed back to May 2021.
“Taking into consideration the safety of our patrons, the uncertainty of the workforce, and the climate of the travel industry, we have decided to postpone Best of the Best 2020 until next year, Sunday, May 30, 2021. Let us all focus on getting through these times with our families and loved ones,” a statement sent to THE STAR by the event’s PR team read. “We have all been affected and we all need each other to pull
through completely before we start going to concerts again. To all our supporters over the past 13 years, we thank you and appreciate you. We will get through this together and celebrate Best of the Best’s 15th year, healthier, stronger and bigger than before. See you all in 2021.”
PROMOTERS DISAPPOINTED
The release added that although disappointed, there is a great understanding among organisers for what is currently happewning worldwide.
They expressed that their number-one priority at this time is doing their part in the fight against COVID-19.
The annual event, which takes place at Bay Front Park in downtown Miami, was highly anticipated this year with a starstudded line-up that included the most female artistes the show has ever seen.
Dancehall queen Spice, Grammy-winning artiste Koffee, dancehall princess Shenseea, veteran performer Lady G, the legendary Tanya Stephens, and soca artiste Alison Hinds were among the acts booked to thrill this year’s crowd.
The second set of artistes booked for the event were to be announced before the global shutdown, and organisers revealed that the names were among some of the biggest in dancehall and reggae music.
Organisers noted that tickets purchased for this year’s edition will still be valid for next year’s festival.
