- LENNOX ALDRED STAR Writer

Jamaican batsman Nkrumah Bonner got to spend a little time out in the middle, as his unbeaten 24 along with a big half-century from Barbadian Shayne Moseley help Holder’s XI to hold on for a draw against Brathwaite’s XI on the final day of their three-day practice match at the Emirates in Old Trafford.

Scores in the match, Brathwaite’s XI 275 and 231/4 declared. Holder’s XI 193 and 149/3.

The right-handed Bonner spent close to an hour and a half at the crease in his unbeaten knock while facing 66 balls and hitting three fours.

Compatriot Jermaine Blackwood followed up his three runs in the first innings to score just 15 in the second before he was bowled by Keon Harding.

Moseley followed up his first-innings knock of 40 with a 142-ball 83 as Holder’s XI chasing 313, closed on 149 for 3. His innings included nine fours and a six.

Bowling for Brathwaite’s XI, Jamaican pacer Oshane Thomas, Raymon Reifer and Harding picked up a wicket each.

UNBEATEN HALF-CENTURIES

Earlier, Shane Dowrich and Shamarh Brooks scored unbeaten half-centuries as Brathwaite’s XI got to 231 for 4 before declaring.

The pair posted an unbroken stand of 131 with Brooks unbeaten on 66 from 99 balls and Dowrich not out on 56 from 83 balls.

Antiguan pacer Alzzari Joseph was the pick of the bowlers bagging two for 17, while there was a wicket apiece for Shannon Gabriel and Jomel Warrican.

Barbadian Brooks said after the game that it was good for some of the batters to get some time out in the middle.

“It was good to get out there today and spend some time in the middle. We have been putting in some hard hours in the nets, but nothing beats match practice and spending time at the crease is always vital,” said Brooks.

The teams will now turn their attention to the four-day practice match which will bowl off at the Emirates on June 29.
