Diremidi bats for single mothers

-

Recording artiste Diremidi has been steadily promoting his single Hold On, which is dedicated to single mothers.

Diremidi says that mothers are the foundation of the Jamaican society, and he is, therefore, encouraging those in places of power and influence to keep them in mind in these trying times.

“My mom is my source of motivation. She has given so much to me and given up so much for me. I have seen where mothers have been the pillars for families. They have used little resources to raise men. So right now, I want them to be remembered because many have had

their livelihoods destroyed due to the situation in the world,” he said.

The artiste, who also dabbled with being a disc jockey, believes that his background in that field gives him a unique edge as it relates to connecting with reggae and dancehall fans.

VERSATILITY IMPORTANT

“I’ve been around music for most of my life. I’ve been a selector, I’ve played on the radio. I’ve been to the talent shows and auditions. I feel like I know what the fans want to hear, and I am focused on delivering just that. My music means more than just lyrics to a beat, and the fans I’m looking to inspire will be a testimony to that,” he said.

The artiste also emphasised the importance of versatility, especially since technology has made global music more accessible.

“It is important not to lay your eggs in one basket. Experience has taught me that being versatile is a necessity. My versatility allows me to break the genre barrier and be able to have a connection with everyone from reggae, dancehall, Afrobeat, you name it. We make music that can cross boundaries,” he said.

The artiste also plans to start his own single-mothers

foundation.
