Xo Tingz looks to foreign markets

-

As the debate about the place for reggae-dancehall music in the global market gets rehashed, upcoming recording artiste Xo Tingz recently debuted his EP, Inception. Since its release on August 8, the EP has been garnering traction on various musical platforms and charts.

The five-track EP caters to fans with an eclectic musical taste as Xo Tingz captures the genres but infuses other notes, catering to a more youthful global market.

Singles such as a Jet Ski and Rock With You give TikTok lovers “Caribbean vibes”. He said that the goal is to create, promote, and tap into markets outside the traditional dancehall space.

“We see other acts reaping success from platforms like TikTok, so we have to be creative in our approach, find new markets where the potential is endless, and build a diverse fan base. Our focus is to garner pure sales and upset the charts,” said Shuzzr, the artiste’s publicist.

Xo Tingz, given name Courtney Malcom, who hails from Harbour View, currently resides in Meriden, Connecticut.

After graduating from St George’s College, where he performed with the school’s choir, he auditioned for the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company, where he was cast as ‘Tiger’ in the Tuff Gong-produced Musical Nesta’s Rock. From there, he joined the Ashe group, where found his love for dance.

After migrating to the US, Xo Tingz decided to follow his dream of becoming a “dancehall-R&B-pop artiste”.

“Don’t doubt yourself. If you believe it, you can achieve it. In life, you must see it, believe it, and go get it. Never limit yourself,” he said.
