Two men have been charged with the murder of Colleen Walker, 53, former vice-principal at the Excelsior High School, who was gunned down in April.

They are 33-year-old Randy Raymond, also known as ‘Teecha,’ and 31-year-old Michael Small, also known as ‘Hour’, a truck driver from a New Haven, St Andrew, address. Both men have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), “The charges against Raymond and Small come after extensive and coordinated investigations by the St Andrew South police and the Communication Forensics and Cyber Crime divisions.” Meanwhile, Jasford Gabriel, president of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), told THE STAR that he hopes justice will prevail.

STILL HURTING

“The JTA stands against crime and violence right across the society. We are still hurting from the death of our colleague, so this is a step in the right direction and we have to commend the security forces for being relentless in the pursuit of those who are deemed culpable in this matter,” he said.

According to reports, Walker was attacked at her home in Queensbury, St Andrew, on April 9, about 5:15 p.m., as she and one of her sons attended to flowers in her garden.

A car approached, and men inside the vehicle shot her several times in the upper body. She was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
