Frantic search for missing fisherman

- ROXROY MCLEAN STAR Writer

The disappearance of 26-year-old Lendford ‘Cushy’ Noyan is causing a great deal of distress to his family, who are now fearing the worst for the Portland fisherman.

Added to the family’s list of frustrations are the perceived lack of urgency displayed by the police.

“It’s torture. Seeing your mother crying and trying to drink the pain away just add fuel to an uncontrollable fire,” said Ketisha Downie, Noyan’s older sister.

THE STAR understands that Noyan and three other men went fishing on Wednesday, February 3. He did not return.

MISSING PERSON REPORT

A police constable assigned to the Port Antonio Police Station confirmed a missing person report has been filed, however, no details were provided.

Downie said that the family fears the worst as several days have passed and Noyan is yet to surface. She said that he is an excellent swimmer and is a boat captain.

“Thinking that Nyla ( his three- year- old daughter) might grow up without a father, like Cushy did, rips at our hearts. The tears are flowing uncontrollably, the gut pain cuts like a knife,” said Downie. The distraught sister said that she heard that one of the fishermen has told persons in Manchioneal that her brother jumped overboard after the boat got into difficulties. Downie does not believe this story.

“We have done a search party for Cushy in Manchioneal because we are not giving up hope. I have faith, I am not letting go off that faith until they can present me with a body that I can identify as that of my brother. I will not stop hoping. I want to see with my own two eyes, that’s when I will give up and say yes, Cushy gone,” she said.
