As Tehra Clarke stared at the spot where her babyfather Carl ‘Jesus’ Montague was shot and killed in their McIntyre Villa, Kingston 16, community, she couldn’t hold back the tears.

Clarke, 39, told THE WEEKEND STAR that she is still in a daze after losing her ‘ daughter’s best friend’ and the most loving person she knew.

“He was such a nice person, someone you can depend on. If I’m in any difficulties and I call him, don’t matter where he is, him a leave and come make sure me all right,” she said. “He was so good with his daughter too. Him make sure she good. Right through the day him bring food fi her. When I tell you he cherished our daughter because she is an only child.”

Reports are that about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Montague was fatally shot in a confrontation with the police. A 9 mm pistol was seized during the incident.

“I don’t know why them kill him because him and nobody don’t have anything at all and him nuh involve in anything wrong,” said Clarke. “Is home me deh when me hear say him dead and me couldn’t believe. Me sit down and a wonder if is really that me hear because him did just drop off a food to we daughter and then me go hear say him die.”

HIM USE TO HUSTLE

Clarke said that she is now left to fend for their 11-year-old daughter who still hasn’t come to terms with her father’s passing.

“Right now she a expect him fi come bring food to her,” said Clarke. “Me honestly don’t know how me a go mange because me is a single mother now and is him use to hustle and him help people around the place to make sure she no in need.”

Shana Wilson, another resident, was furious as she said stray bullets damaged sections of her home and almost injured her son.

“The shot fly through the door but if it did go through the window my son would probably be dead because he was in the seat at the window and I feel bad to know that my son could lose him life in his house,” she said.

The matter was reported to The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and The Independent Commission of Investigations is also investigating.
