New album from Harry Toddler
S DGancehall veteran Harry Toddler says he is determined to show that no matter how much time passes, certain styles of music will always have its place in dancehall.
Speaking with THE STAR, the Baay Gyal deejay said that he and ‘ 90s front runners from the Scare Dem Crew have songs that are considered classics in the genre.
“The song dem weh Harry Toddler sing is not music weh people hear and listen to it and put it dung. A songs weh reach inna the soul of people, and das why it can reach this generation years down the line. Memba a me say ‘ badman nuh dress like girl’ innu, but the way how me say it, mi say it wid fun and not in a way weh anybody bd who hh hear it a go dislike di lik it. When me say ‘ nah nah nah, cha, cha, cha’, up to dis day people affi dance when dem hear it, and that song is 21 years old,” he said. “My music is fun and that’s why it dwells in nations right across the world. Anyweh dancehall a play, a Harry Toddler song affi play or a Scare Dem Crew song affi play.

hWe play a big part in dancehall, the real classic energy of the genre, and that’s why I know people are going to love the new album I just dropped.” According to Toddler, the album, Nah Nah Nah, which was released on the weekend, features 10 songs.
“I did it ( the album) for Top Secret Music in England 20 years ago, but all these tracks are fresh and carry a different diff feeling li of Harry Toddler. ddl This hi was like the first chapter in who I am as an artiste and, finally, people will get to see that on a full- length work. It is on every digital platform featuring artistes like Al Campbell, Kudjoe Banton, Don Mafia and some more. The topics dem weh we a talk ‘ bout on it, although we do it 20 years ago, still relevant today; and the flows, my sound, everything fresh same way,” he said.
Harry Toddler also revealed that he and members of the Scare Dem Crew recently united for a brand new single called Happy Life. He said the Crew members, like himself, Nitty
ffKutchie hi and Boom Dandimite, di have matured and have a fervency to reintroduce themselves to the current music landscape.
“Scare Dem Crew is a group weh always promote happy music and positive movements. Scare Dem is not just a group, it’s a livity. We always a have fun in the midst of where we are, and the music always generate that energy and make the people feel joyful. We were also colourful, and people love us for that,” he said. “This is us reuniting and restarting the movement so this new generation can know who Scare Dem is.”
