Kenny Ras eyes musical success

-

From sleeping with his radio by his side as a child to owning his own production label, Kenroy Burrell, aka ‘Kenny Ras’ of Kikz Records, is confident that he possesses what it takes to be one of reggae’s leading producers.

Having been involved in music for as long as he can remember, the St Catherine native, who is now based in the US, prides himself on releasing projects that are sure to make an impact.

In 2019, he made his debut with the ‘High Choice’ rhythm, which featured top acts like Queen Ifrica and I-Wayne.

“For this compilation, I chose reggae artistes who are similar in lyrical potency but different in delivery, and that’s what made the riddim stands out. I had a good time working with these entertainers because the goal was common, and, to date, I am still seeing and hearing the songs on the radio,” said Kenny Ras. “I am proud to say I have found my calling after dabbling in a bit of everything musically. I tried being an artiste, managing artistes, operating a sound system. But production is what I leaned towards. My main aim is to be one of Jamaica’s top producers who will be known for his contribution towards keeping the legacy of conscious music alive.”

The producer released the ‘Wild Herb’ rhythm late last year and said that in 2021, he has put several plans and campaign ideas together for a major project.

“As my catalogue grows, so does my knowledge of the business; and I have been paying attention to what the consumers need, and in a few months I will be delivering. I am thankful for everyone who has contributed to my musical growth and all I can say is, greatness shall come after this,” he said.
