Musical lifestyle in Jay5Flow’s DNA

-

Dancehall artiste Jay-5Flow says his soon-to-be-released album, DNA, is about a lifestyle of street hustling mixed with partying, living lavishly, and being real.

Jay-5Flow, who hails from St Mary and is currently based in California, USA, said that DNA, produced by Minto Play Da Riddim, is slated for release in August.

“It’s about my mindset at the moment, experiencing all that I am singing about,” the artiste said.

Jay-5Flow said that the 11-track project includes singles such as Off Road, Top Baller, Heels On and the title track, DNA.

“The vibe of this album is high energy and lots of harmonies. I know people young and old will definitely enjoy it,” he said.

The artiste said that he has many new projects in the pipeline, among them being collaborations with international acts such as Honorable and Kalado.

“My focus right now is to release more songs on a regular basis, establishing a household name for myself here in Jamaica and internationally. The best is yet to come, and it will all be worth the wait,” Jay-5Flow said.

Tower Hill Records’ main man, Greg Chisolm, believes he has landed a world-class production, featuring dancehall front runner TeeJay, and internationally renowned singer Gyptian.

The song, titled Uptop Wine, also features upand- coming Ugandan artiste Bremmy. According to Chisolm, the single is a fusion of pop, Afrobeats, R&B and dancehall.

In a release sent to THE STAR, Chisolm said that he has gravitated to music since he was a teenager, drawing inspiration from his father’s writing skills, and gaining experience in his grandfather’s studio.

“This has led me to a journey of pursuing a bachelor’s in audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research in New York that has propelled me to creating productions with artistes like Jadakis, Rick Ross, Jim Jones, Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel, Natural

Blacks, and many more,” he said. Chisolm noted that Uptop Wine is the label’s first release in a long while. He said that they were satisfied with the finished product. “Our marketing and PR team have worked tirelessly to ensure that this single Uptop Wine (will) be a hit song by working all digital platforms and strategies to boost the project. We anticipate great support from the artistes’ fan base and the entertainment industry players. We are expecting it to do extremely well,” he said. In commenting on the track, Gyptian dubbed it a ‘winner’ made for all seasons. “It is a very pronounced tropicalflavoured song for the summer splash and beyond. It will be great for the dance floor and make useful for carnival,” he said.

The video for the single was shot at the Geejam Hotel in Portland by international director Angelo Boyke of Angelo B Media.
