Hitmaker feeling ‘dope’ about new single
Dancehall producer and recording artiste Hitmaker has collaborated with colleague Demarco on the single Dope Boy.
Produced under his Hitmakermuzik label, the single was officially released on June 25.
“This is a song about being on your hustle, stacking up that paper while on your grind and having fun with it,” Hitmaker explained.
The song has been supported by an accompanying video that was released on June 27. Directed by Knemesis, the video has contributed to the popularity and traction of the song, which has gained an impressive number of views and positive comments on YouTube.
“The track’s feedback has been overwhelming. DJs and fans who never ever buy my music are now buying it. People who never link me have started reaching out. The song is getting crazy love worldwide,” the producer revealed.
He explained that for him, the term ‘dope’ means “being driven by positive energy”.
“As long as you’re moving towards your goals, doing greatness and being the best version of you, that’s dope,” he said. “This song is a whole mood, it’s lit! It’s going to be a hustlers’ anthem for sure, once it reaches its full potential.”
Not their first collaboration, the producer has been working with Demarco since 2012. “I produced We
Nah Sleep on my first riddim, the PayPa Chaser riddim, and in 2013, there was the hit song Apartment on my hit Seduction riddim,” he said. Hitmaker said that he has more projects in the pipeline.
“You can look out for more club banger singles and music videos leading up to my next body of work, which is my EP,” he said.
