‘Real Life’ TO WRAP SECOND SEASON
Denvo and Kiki Thombs, executive producers and co-hosts of adventure-vlog series Real Life on Television Jamaica (TVJ), have granted approximately J$1.8 million in donations through the show’s ‘Bucket List’ feature, which culminates this Sunday at 9 p.m.
Twenty recipients were selected from a plethora of subscribers who detailed their needs and desires via the show’s Instagram platform @ reallifejamaica. Among the Bucket List recipients are Richard Currie, chief of the Accompong Maroons.
Kiki admits that “the needs are many but we believe these individuals are well-deserving and will make the best of what has been provided for them”.
Through the Bucket List feature, the couple will make donations by way of gifts and financial assistance to cover counselling services, medical expenses, tuition fees and more.
Kiki said the viewers and sponsors made the season a success and expressed her gratitude to The Office of the Children’s Advocate, CranWATA, WATA, Sagicor, ATL Autobahn, TVJ, Modish JA and other partners.
The producers have woven in more of Jamaica’s heritage and culture into the special season finale during Heritage Month (October)
through a visit to the Accompong Village in the Cockpit Country. The mountainous journey will provide viewers with a sneak peek into the indigenous village and an insightful conversation around the matter of celebrating women with Chief Currie. MAROON
The Thombs will also make a donation to Chief Currie, courtesy of Sagicor, to assist with the refurbishing of the Accompong Health Clinic which serves roughly 2,500 residents of Accompong and the neighbouring Maroon villages.
Denvo, who doubles as a senior disc jockey on FAME 95
FM, says that “this donation is a nobrainer and was on the list from the pre-production stages of the show. The clinic has been closed since 2019 and the closest access to medical care for residents of the Cockpit Country is the Black River Hospital, which is about 25 miles away. That’s ridiculous, especially during a pandemic”. Real Life has impressed viewers each week with invigorating conversations and adventures to hidden gems across Jamaica, such as Campbelton Mountain Adventure in Hanover, Freedom Skate Park in St Andrew, Bunker’s Hill Cultural Xperience and River Tour, Zimbali’s Retreat in Trelawny and Lift Foil Jamaica in St James.
