ALKALINE’S NEW RULES COMING HOME
New Era Productions and reggae- dancehall artiste Alkaline have announced the return of New Rules Festival to Jamaica on July 2 at the National Stadium car park in Kingston.
The initial staging in 2017 saw more than 30,000 patrons coming to witness Alkaline’s performance after his debut album peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Reggae album charts. This overwhelming support and musical success spoke to the artiste’s grasp on the genre which still resonates today. Since its inception, the event has been held in Miami and New York City.
As the festival returns home for a much-anticipated staging, given its absence from the local circuit, New Rules Festival Jamaica will see acts like Elephant Man, Aidonia, Macka Diamond, Skeng, Jahvillani, Stalk Ashley and Marcy Chin, with other surprise guests performing in concert with Alkaline.
“Our Jamaican audience has been waiting not just for a great production/event like New Rules Festival but also to see Alkaline live in concert. It’s been about five years since he performed in Jamaica and his return this summer will be epic. Our show’s platform has always catered to giving up-and-coming artistes a platform to shine and this year will be no different,” states Kereena Beckford, Alkaline’s manager/ event organiser.
New Era Productions said gates open at 5 p.m. with showtime to commence at 8 p.m. All tickets purchased for the April 2020 staging, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be honoured.
The company also advised all ticket holders to exercise the necessary precautions such as the wearing of masks and utilising sanitisers.
