One-stop medical centre opens in St Ann’s Bay

-

Mayor of St Ann’s Bay, Councillor Sydney Stewart, has welcomed the opening of the town’s new multi-care medical centre as a game-changer in the provision of comprehensive and accessible health services to residents.

The Bravo Dental and Medical Centre, operated by Dr Alexandre Young and his wife Dr Ruth-Ann Leveridge-Young, is the first facility in the parish to offer a suite of dental and medical services under one roof.

“This is very good for the parish capital and, by extension, the entire St Ann,” Stewart said. “Having all these services under one roof will eliminate a lot of stress and persons having to go to numerous places to get the care that they need.” He added that the facility will be particularly beneficial to elderly persons.

He expressed confidence that those in charge of the facility will deliver on their promise of good customer service and compassionate care, noting that anything less would be unacceptable.

Leveridge-Young said that the centre will provide holistic, comprehensive healthcare that not only treats conditions of the teeth and mouth “but the whole person”.

“It is basically a one-stop-shop medical facility which aims to revolutionise the practice of dentistry and medicine, with a focus on holistic medical dentistry and bringing the tender, love and care to healthcare,” she said.

She noted that the facility will provide comfortable and stressfree care that combines the art and science of dentistry with the fundamentals of medicine.

“We have long recognised that many systemic diseases show up in the mouth, and that conditions presented as toothaches, for example, may be reflective of neurological issues, which we are trained to identify, and can then make appropriate referrals to our inhouse panel of specialists,” she said.

The dental practice will offer general and cosmetic dentistry, including normal and surgical extractions; crowns, bridges, and dentures; cleanings, fillings and whitening; and root canal treatment. A unique feature of the practice is the provision of on-call mobile emergency dental care.

Meanwhile, Dr George Leveridge, a consultant psychiatrist, generalist and consultant public health specialist with over 30 years of experience, will lead a group of in-house specialists in several disciplines, including obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatric care.
