Don G and Nuh Rush Records team up for ‘Jah Never Leave’

-

Reggae and dancehall croner Don G has teamed up with Nuh Rush Records to release the soulful song Jah Never Leave, which is featured on the ‘Redemption Project’ rhythm.

“We recently released the music video for this powerful song. Also, we are pushing this one mainly because it connects with the time, what’s going on in the world. So everyone can relate to it by asking Jah to be by our side to guide and protect us in this revelation, chanting for freedom, singing a redemption song of thanksgiving,” said Don G.

The artiste, given name Rasheed Steele, started in the music industry at a tender age, singing at concerts in his St Catherine community. Several artistes influenced his musical path.

“I listen to various artistes, like Bob Marley, Burning Spear, Shabba Ranks, Shaggy, Etana, Queen Ifrica and others,” he said.

On the international scene, Don G said that he also looks up to artiste like the late rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., as well as singers Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill and Celine Dion. Don G said his family also supports his music, especially his mother.

“When my career started to evolve, they really start pay more attention and see what I’m doing was manifested by Jah, and [that] this was my role to play on earth. My mom knew I would be successful; she always motivate me and say, ‘write good songs’. I remember when I got booked for Sting 2009, held in Portmore. As I was preparing to go for the show, before I left the house she said, ‘Before you enter the stage, first pray; then when you actually on the stage, greet the crowd, big up the people’, and that has resonated in my performances from then until now. Big up, mummy.”
