Lugo Lugo is forever 21

- SIMONE MORGAN-LINDO STAR Writer

Veteran dancer Lugo Lugo has been hitting the dancehall scene with renewed determination, being featured by this newspaper.

The dancer, who has been on the party scene for close to two decades, had bemoaned the lack of respect she has been getting from younger practitioners and insisted that she should be recognised for her work in the space.

While her demand for greater respect received attention, it was her claim that she is 21 years old that captured the imagination of the public. Lugo Lugo, though, is doubling down on that claim.

“Mi is forever 21,” said the dancer who has been on the scene for at least two decades.

Lugo Lugo, best known for dances such as Famous Roll and Tump Yuh Head, said that being featured in THE WEEKEND STAR and on THE STAR’s social media platforms has led to renewed interest in her career.

“A nuff comments mi get everywhere mi go and people a big up the interview and mi everywhere mi go. Mi all get a new bookings for Saturday night. The interview make mi feel good inna myself and boost mi confidence and put mi more out deh,” she said.

Lugo Lugo, though, has been forced to clarify a comment she demanded that others put some respect on her name. She said that the comment was not aimed at veterans Keiva and Mad Michelle.

“I wasn’t talking about Mad Michelle because dem don’t young inna the business. I was talking about the young dancers and is like dem never listen to the interview. I didn’t say Mad Michelle or Keiva must show mi respect,” Lugo Lugo clarified.
