Ministers pray for police, fire personnel during service

- STAR Writer

Last Saturday, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and Jamaica Fire Brigade, along with citizens, gathered at the New Life Church of God in Lauriston, Spanish Town, St Catherine, to participate in a prayer and fasting service for peace.

During the function, which was hosted by the Spanish Town Ministers’ Fraternal under the theme ‘Transformed Leaders Be Strong’, the uniformed personnel received prayers. Member of Parliament for St Catherine Eastern, Denise Daley, endorsed the initiative “as divine and timely intervention” which should be replicated islandwide.

“This is a timely intervention by the Fraternal, as by doing this the family, the community are being brought together by the spiritual strengthening of the leaders,” Daley said. “This year cannot be like last year, as legislators cannot do it alone. If we need divine intervention, it is now.”

The initiative is deemed special by the Fraternal to pay homage to the uniform groups including the police and the fire brigade. Pastor Denise Adams, in her message to the congregation, implored persons to be humble as that is why they are servants.

“We are now having people using titles to do the work of God, but I can tell titles cannot do the work. We need humility, commitment and dedication to those we serve,” Adams said.

Fraternal Chairman Pastor Yvette Harriot

said the group aimed to give spiritual guidance and coverage for the police and fire personnel.

“Last year we did a great number of

outreach [programmes] including the provision of garbage skips for the St Catherine Infirmary. We intend to widen our delivery this year,” Harriot said.
