Kimari Unruly hopes to capitalise on viral rhythm

-

With the controversial ‘Dutty Money’ rhythm causing quite the buzz on the entertainment circuit, upand-coming dancehall artiste Kimari Unruly is hoping to capitalise on the excitement by throwing his own track into the mix.

Gyal Dem Sugar,

the ‘unauthorised’ track, was designed for women. Kimari Unruly explained that as a fan of music, he was excited to lay down a track on the same rhythm as dancehall giants, including Vybz Kartel.

“Man like Kartel, Popcaan, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer inspire me, so I just wanted to put a track out that would reflect what I’ve learnt from watching these greats,” he said. Although the song has not been officially released, the artiste is hoping producer Rvssian will ‘authorise’ it and send it to the world.

Apart from that, Kimari Unruly said that he’s putting in the necessary work to make 2024 his breakout year.

“I’m from Cane River in St Andrew, with family ties in St Thomas. Popcaan is my cousin, so music is in my blood. I just came off a big performance on Aidonia’s Fresh Drop tour, and I have an upcoming show in Ghana later this year,” he shared. “This is going to be my year. I have an upcoming new song with the legendary dancer Shankle Dip, and I’m also doing a new song with Lynx Unruly, after our previous song Dat Bad Remix did so well in Latin America and Africa.” He added that his aim is to get his music heard and placed into the proper rotation with disc jockeys.

“I want to bring great lyrics, poetic similes and music that tells you a story, not just a bunch of drugs, guns and bad words. I’m going straight to the top, and I hope to continue to be on more riddims with a mix of many dancehall artistes.”
