- TIFFANY TAYLOR STAR Writer

Senior Parish Judge LoriAnne Cole-Montaque didn’t hold back her frustration as two women from the Corporate Area found themselves in the spotlight at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, all over a dispute about two packs of braiding hair worth $2,700.

“I need to lock unnu up for 2,700 days. What kind of idleness is this? This is an argument over hair that cost $2700. Can you imagine? ” the senior judge asked.

It was shared in the court that, on December 16, the defendant, Alethea Robinson, attacked the complainant and dragged her Brazilian wig from her head. The wig is said to be worth $38,000.

Robinson explained to the court that, prior to the altercation, there was an disagreement between herself and her friends about braiding hair that the complainant’s sister bought.

“She [the complainant] buy out the argument and every day she a post me up pon status, pon Instagram, just a call up me name. She say he ago kill me,” Robinson shared, after pleading guilty to malicious destruction of property.

The defendant related further that, on the day of the altercation, the complainant, “Rush offa me wid a ratchet and me just pull her wig”.

“Do you work?” the judge quizzed Robinson. “No, Your Honour,” the 24-year-old woman responded.

“You know, I coulda tell. Working people nuh have time fi dem foolishness here,’ Judge

Cole-Montaque said. “You are going to pay her back for the wig,” the judge ordered.

The complainant indicated to the court, through the prosecutor, that, after losing her wig during the melee, she had to visit another hairdresser salon to get another hairstyle, which cost $12,500.

“Yes, you are to be compensated for that as well,” the judge noted.

The total compensation to be made by Robinson is $50,000, and a first payment of $15,000 was made in court.

Judge Cole-Montaque warned the women to keep the peace.

“Do not post anything about each other. Stop it,” the judge stressed.

The matter was adjourned until April 19, when the matter is set for mention. Sentencing was postponed until then.
