Chris Martin makes big plans to mark 20 years in entertainment

Bouyed by the outpour of love and support from fans, backed by a slew of scintillating performances at the recently held ‘I Love Souls’ concert, reggae singer Christopher Martin said he was truly inspired to stage a ‘Christopher Martin and Friends’ show coming next year.
“There has to be a next show to celebrate my 20-years in the business. So, following on the back of this one, which was a wonderful energy, you can look out fi a next one. There will definitely be a ‘Christopher Martin and Friends’ next year,” Martin shared with
THE WEEKEND STAR.
‘I Love Souls’ was held on February 11 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston. Patrons were entertained by a plethora of well-established and up-and-coming artistes such as, Chris Martin, Tessanne, Richie Stephens, Bounty Killer, Jahzeal, Lia Caribe, Ghost, Romain Virgo and D-Major.
“Tessanne did an exceptional job where she started the show on such a high note, suh wi couldn’t guh wrong from deh so,” Chris Martin said.
“It was an entire package because it was just a great vibe from start to finish, and every time mi get a chance fi share my platform like dat, you can expect fi see new artistes,” said the Take My Wings singer.
“This event shows that there’s a market for it, people love the music and the soulful vibe and if dem love it, yuh affi jus give it to dem. I definitely believe people understand the need for dem kinda events deh because it was well supported and everyone who came there left with great expectation of it happening again. Mi a get a tun load a messages a seh ‘mek sure dis happen next year again,’ suh it was well received,” Chris Martin said.
Born and raised in Back Pasture, St Catherine, Martin grabbed national attention after winning Digicel Rising Stars in 2005. He told THE WEEKEND STAR that he has consistently sought to deliver timeless, soulful music, which he said is critical to success and longevity in the business. “I believe [soulful timely music] is a testament to why I’m in the business and stayed relevant for so long. So I believe I garnered a fan base that believes in me, I respect them and they respect me, and they look for a certain quality a work from me. So when I deliver that, is like they have no choice but to keep supporting me because mi naah disappoint dem or let dem down, suh it’s like brand loyalty. I’m loyal to dem by giving them the type a music they expect from me and they stay true to me because of that,” Martin said.
The chart-topping reggae/dancehall singer recently released two singles, My All and Drive Me Crazy on the former track star, now-turned-producer, Usain Bolt’s, Escape Riddim album.
