Cross-dresser shocks court
Agay man stunned onlookers as sauntered into the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, dressed in a lace wig and stuffing in his shirt, mimicking that of female breasts.
The man, Niklye Hutchinson, appeared in the Half-Way Treebased court where he is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and malicious destruction of property.
Hutchinson’s appearance grew the ire of the prosecutor, whose facial expression told a story of confusion, questioning if the right accused person stood in the prisoner’s dock. He has called the name of a male but a ‘female’ answered.
“Your Honour, I am having a bit of a challenge, I will need to approach the bench,” the prosecutor said to presiding judge Carlo Mason.
Following a private discussion with Hutchinson’s attorney and the prosecutor, judge Mason quickly adjourned the matter and instructed a court sergeant to speak to Hutchinson about his attire to court.
“Leave please,” judge Mason said to Hutchinson.
He is to return to court on April 3, when the matter is set for mention.
Wednesday was not the first time that Hutchinson has turned up at the courthouse dressed in flamboyant manner. Last July, he attended court clad in a short shorts. At that time, he was facing extortion charges. Hutchinson is alleged to have demanded $15,000 from the complainant to not publish lewd videos that he had of him.
The complainant in that matter indicated to the court on that occasion that he no longer wanted to pursue the matter as he was getting ready to begin training in the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
On another occasion, he wore his hair in two ponytails, with swooped edges, that caught the attention of a judge.
“You did that style at the lock-ups. They allow gel and stuff like that in the jail?” the judge questioned at that time.
