RAR Productions drops ‘90s-style RHYTHM

- Rohan ‘Fyah Fashion’ Robotham

‘Nutten nuh bad like ‘90s dancehall’, is what RAR Productions is declaring, following the release of its latest project, the ‘5 Star’ rhythm.

Declaring the ‘90s a stellar era in local music history, producers say they wanted to recapture dancehall’s authenticity on the new project.

“Dancehall in the ‘90s took reggae/dancehall to another level with all the multiple worldwide songs that sold gold and platinum albums from many artistes. The party/concert vibes were out of this world, as you see from all the snippets on social media,” said executive producer of the rhythm, Rohan ‘Fyah Fashion’ Robotham.

“At RAR Music Production our motto is ‘Giving You Authentic Music with a Positive Vibe’, and so we aim to do that at all times, and this project is no different.”

Robotham said the project has been receiving rave reviews, especially from music lovers reminiscing on the ‘good ole days’.

“The riddim has the original dancehall vibes of hardcore drum, bassline and keyboards. It is bringing back that party vibe from the parties in the ‘90s and early 2000s, and so the reaction has been great, especially with the Beenie Man, Sizzla, G Mac and Badda General, plus Galaxy P songs,” he said. Robotham said voicing two of the biggest names in dancehall proved an easy task, as both Beenie Man and Sizzla loved the project’s vibe. It was also a plus that one of the experts working on the project was Paul ‘Titus’ Green from legendary backing band, Ruff Kut.

He outlined that with the heavy lifting on the project now complete, the label is on to the next phase of promotions and will be adding visuals to at least four of the songs. Robotham said he believes the project will go far, not only because of the ‘90s element, but because of the messages in every single.

“The expectation for the project is that the audience will get the messages we wanted to bring across. Sizzla’s song, Business StartUp, is encouraging youths to start their own businesses. G Mac’s song, Life Story, tells a story of overcoming the struggles of the world. Beenie Man’s song is showing people how far you can go when you see yourself as unstoppable. Every song has a message and we just want the people to hear that.”
