Tifa proclaims 2024 her comeback year

- NATASHA WILLIAMS STAR Writer

Dancehall artiste Latifa ‘Tifa’ Brown has left tongues wagging and garnered much attention, which saw the entertainer signing international deals since she resurfaced on the musical sphere late last year.

“It’s a great feeling. Insights and bookings are up, deejays worldwide are requesting the songs to play, fans love the music, and I’m being featured in major hip-hop magazines like The Source, and getting co-signs from people like 50 Cent on his

This Is 50 website. God is good,” Tifa told THE WEEKEND STAR.

Since the start of 2024, the Jealous

Ova artiste has been creating a buzz with

several viral videos, back-to-back hits, and other tactical marketing strategies that have kept her fans in a frenzy. When pressed about the unique style implied upon revamping her career, the singer responded with a laugh.

“A smart woman never gives away her strategy,” she said. “However, visibility is key, and we can’t forget good music,” alluding to her years of hits that saw her winning several awards and being recognised as one of the chart-topping female dancehall artistes in the early 2000s. While emphasising that she is “bad in every era”, the Move Yuh Body singer said she is reenergised and ready to reclaim her space in music.

“It’s a new era, and back then I couldn’t address or say certain things I wanted to say because of my endorsements, and me having to uphold a particular image. Now, I’m free to be me. People got away with disrespect and shady behaviour, [but] that’s not happening now! However, I won’t be addressing every stray dog or cat, either,” she said.

“With regard to my songs, the people say they miss me, so I’m servicing their needs; Let’s go Team Dancehall!”

While not explicitly stating names, Tifa went live recently to address who fans are speculating to be a popular music mogul, blaming the “marketer and his team” for alleged underhand tactics which forced her off the radar.

“Well, basically, someone decided that I had done my time and it was time to push me out of the business so their interests could take the forefront. They thought I was sitting on a corporate empire and they wanted it, so they did everything disgustingly possible to get rid of me. At that point it was really a lot, and I had to make a decision between music and my sanity, [and] I chose my sanity,” the

She continued, “Technically, I wasn’t really absent, I was still doing my shows and putting out songs, etc. But there was a heavy fight; hence, why you weren’t seeing me as much. Now I’m back!”

Now that Tifa’s career has been revamped, the bold ‘dancehall diva’ promised to continue dropping singles, while professing that “2024 is the year of Tifa”.

She recently released a hot, new single, Say Yes, and indicated that she has several upcoming projects and tours, and hinted at a “surprising” major collaboration in the works.
