Swave decides to ‘Nah Wish Dem Bad’

-

Despite having his faith tested by people he describes as “fake friends” while negotiating the perils of “bad mind”, reggae/R&B-influenced singer Swave is making waves with his latest single, Nah Wish Dem Bad.

The single is released on the ‘Zone Out’ rhythm currently racking up heavy streaming on VEVO and YouTube. Swave, given name Duran Tewalie Reid, is a former Sandals Ocho Rios and Jewels Dunn’s River entertainment coordinator. But he now has his sights firmly set on achieving greatness. Swave credits his interest in music to his father, who exposed him to a wide range of genres by playing songs from his vast collection at home.

“My first live performance was at Margaritaville in Ocho Rios, and I have wowed crowds at Riu Ocho Rios and Grand Bahia in Runaway Bay. I want to continue doing good music for the people; I see it as my destiny,” he said. With his inspiration coming from the likes of Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, as well as reggae greats such as Beres Hammond and Bob Marley, Swave’s tastes even extend to oldschool crooners like Percy Sledge.

He described Nah Wish Dem Bad as the result of deep introspection on how some have taken his kindness for weakness, as well as how he has persevered despite the odds.

“I am on an unstoppable path to success, setbacks only make me stronger,” he stated.

Past recordings such as I Can Be, which generated thousands of streams, and Richer, a collaboration with Champaigne, have given modest indications of his great talent. Now, under the wings of producer Larry ‘Quan Don’ Graham’s Don Rich Records, the ‘sky is the limit’.

Swave said that he would like to do collaborations with artistes such as Christopher Martin, Shaniel Muir and JCeleb, whom he admires. He is currently performing at events at hotels, schools and weddings inbetween recordings.
