Beloved family dog missing

- KALLEJHAY TERRELONGE

For some people, a dog is just a mere pet, but for Heidi Anna and her family, their precious Shish-Poo Yogi, who is now missing, is like family.

That is why they are offering a $50,000 reward for the safe return of their eight-year-old furry friend.

“To anybody, if you have her, if you’ve seen her; please, we’re asking, we’re begging you to bring her back to us. We will reward you because we need to have her home,” Anna pleaded.

“She’s a crucial part of our family. My kids literally grew up with her; they were babies when we brought her home and she’s just an integral part of the family. There is no other way to say it, she’s another family member,” added Anna.

Anna said that although Yogi’s disappearance is distressing, she remains hopeful because her family and community have not stopped searching for her. She said that even strangers have called to tell her they have joined the search to find and bring Yogi home.

“The amount of people that have been touched by the loss of our dog, it’s such as a good feeling to know that people really care,” noted Anna.

“It’s been five nights now and we have been patrolling day and night, and we have quite a huge community, I cannot believe how many people are out there looking for her… we’re just hoping that somebody has her and they just don’t know. We’re really hoping that she’s safe and no one has her trying to breed her because she is spayed (sterilised) and can’t have puppies,” added Anna.

Dubbed the ‘Usain Bolt’ of dogs by her family, Yogi went missing after managing to free herself of her leash while on a walk in the Russell Heights of St Andrew late Saturday afternoon. She is small, fluffy with light brown fur and slightly darker fur on her ears and around her mouth. When she went missing, Yogi had a small blue bow in her hair, her signature look.

“Whenever she grooms, she gets two bows in her hair, but then we laugh because she always shakes out one, and we (also) call her the ‘one bow bandit’ ... so she always has one bow in her hair. I don’t know if it’s still hanging on, but persons can look out for that,” said Anna.

Yogi’s disappearance is distressing, she remains hopeful because her family and community have not stopped searching for her.
