Seasoned carnival reveller NOT DITCHING HER HEELS

Despite the strenuous journey, jumping with her heels on is a special carnival routine that Alexia Turner said she looks forward to as part of her annual Jamaica carnival road march experience.

While ‘chipping down the road’, the slender beauty was spotted, adorned in her beautifully designed costume, as she paraded through the Yard Mas crowd to catch up with her crew from the Xodus band. As a regular jumper and notorious ‘band hopper’, Turner said she doesn’t mind the band, she’s just there for the fun.

“Vibes on the road, that’s the only thing [that matters] and Xodus always bring the vibes. I was with GenXs last year, they were an amazing band as well so I was like, ‘You know what? Let me try Xodus this year’ and I’m having such an amazing time already in this beautiful costume; look at it,” she expressed with excitement as she revealed her entire outfit. “It’s like so gorgeous. So I’m just so happy to be on the road and looking forward to bare vibes.”

As she showed off her costume, the reveller also made sure to top off the look with a pair of chunky high-heeled ankle booties, in which she graciously strut down the roadway.

“Every single year I jump in heels and this is in fact the lowest I’ve ever worn actually, and it’s only because of this heavy backpack; I decided ‘Let’s not test physics’,” she humorously exclaimed, while pointing to her royal blue feathery costume wings, laced with heavy studs. Sprawled across her back, dancing in the wind, they helped Turner maintain her balance.

Despite the weight on her shoulders, Turner said her experience was “amazing” and she implored everyone to try the carnival experience in Jamaica.

“[It’s] so great; I’m having the best time, come to Jamaica, play mas. Every single year it’s amazing, it’s the new Trinidad. We have so many foreigners here which is great for the vibe, people from Trinidad, Miami, people who are just carnival junkies and that’s exactly what we need here to just build on the vibe and have an amazing time. It’s been a fabulous carnival season and I had the best time,” she said, adding that she wanted to see the performance of ‘Soca King,’ Machel Montano, who was this year’s main headliner act for the GenXS band.
