Connecting Destinies
Air Astana has presented a new documentary, Air Astana: Connecting Destinies in a cinema in the capital of Kazakhstan. Produced by Zhanna Balakayeva, the documentary follows the lives of Kazakhs who live abroad but maintain connections with their home country. Some of them had chosen to emigrate, others were born abroad, but all are united by their love and respect for their roots. The characters include the traumatologist Ewald
Hering from Hannover, who was born in the Pavlodar region, the Head of the Siberian Centre of Kazakh Culture in Omsk, Altynai Zhunussova, and the Kazakh history teacher, Abdulvahap Kara, from Turkey. There was also an employee of Airbus and manager of the Paris Kazakh Sport football club, Seljuk Biyikli; the head of a community of poets and scriptwriters in China, Akbar Mazhit, and an ex-Almaty resident, Farida Chulakova, who lives and works in Frankfurt at the Russian Chamber Philharmonic.
