Scythian Mounds

The Boraldai Scythian Mounds are relics of the early Iron Age located in the city of Almaty. There are 47 mounds in total. An open-air museum is in the pipeline, but you can visit now while the site is in the process of restoration. Researchers using magnetic scanning equipment have revealed not only tombs but also traces of human remains under the layers of earth. Archaeologists believe that some of the structures here were used in exactly the same way as those at Stonehenge.
