The 4th arrondissement
Make your way into the 4th arrondissement and the medieval heart of Paris, where commerce meets art and old world charm confronts contemporary culture. You’ll find plenty of shops and galleries along the charming rue Vieille du Temple and surrounding streets. Don’t miss the Place des Vosges, which straddles the 3rd and 4th arrondissements and was built by Henry IV between 1605 and 1612. Amidst the vaulted arches, you’ll find a small house-museum celebrating the life and works of Victor Hugo. The museum contains many of his letters, manuscripts, photographs and some of his furniture.
