Light Festival
Every year, on the threshold of Christmas and New Year, Amsterdam dazzles visitors with a festival of light, bringing a holiday spirit to the city. This year the programme includes 40 works and installations by artists, designers and architects that will illuminate the centre of Amsterdam, including the existential work of Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei. A great way to enjoy the lights is by water, joining the festival’s guided Water Colours canal cruises on the Herengracht. Other events will be arranged in museums, restaurants, theatres and shopping malls, most of which will be free of charge.
When & Where: from 30 november to 21 January; the exhibitions will be concentrated in two parts of the city: along the Herengracht canal and in the centre of the ancient district of Weesperbuurt en Plantage, amsterdam, the netherlands. For more information visit amsterdamlightfestival.com.
