The Hindu festival in honour of the
God Ganesha (also Ganapati) is a Hindu version of the European Christmas.
The festival revolves around children. They receive gifts throughout the five days of the festival, but they are only permitted to open them on the fifth day. In every house, sweets and fruit are presented to Ganapati and traditional rituals include praying, arranging picnics and visiting friends and relatives.
