Camel Wrestling, Turkey
This annual event is very popular in Turkey, especially in the Aegean district, in the same way as bullfighting is in Spain. Fortunately, camel wrestling is bloodless and can be rather funny. Fights take place in the city of Selcuk, famous for its ancient monuments and beautiful surroundings. Specially trained, well-fed animals participate in the fights; the point of the contest is that two huge camels lean against each other until one of them gives up and runs away. It looks like entertainment, but there are serious bets placed on each contestant.
