Dear Air Astana flyer,
The cover of this edition of tengri features Hong Kong, Asia’s World City, the bustling multi-cultural metropolis and business and tourism centre where I had the good fortune to live during my years with Cathay Pacific Airways in the 1980s and 1990s. Air Astana has been flying between Almaty and Hong Kong since 2012, and I am delighted to inform you that we are shortly to increase frequencies to thrice weekly following the signing of a comprehensive code share agreement with Cathay Pacific. The code share will enable Air Astana customers to access Cathay’s huge network of flights from and to Hong Kong at preferential rates, and with seamless transfers at
Hong Kong International Airport.
We have also recently added to our existing code shares with Lufthansa and KLM respectively, on routes between Atyrau and Frankfurt, and Atyrau and Amsterdam. The point of a code share is to make connectivity and access to a partner airline’s network and special fares both easier and cheaper. In addition to those mentioned above, Air Astana also has code shares with Turkish Airlines, Asiana, Bangkok Airways and Etihad, all with the aim of offering you a wide choice of routes and frequencies across a global network.
This year Air Astana celebrates ten years of the Nomad Club frequent flyer programme. The club is divided into four membership tiers – Blue, Silver, Gold and Diamond – and now has a total of 300,000 members spread across more than 25 countries. That it has been such a massive success is entirely due to your loyalty. I sincerely thank you for that. Yours faithfully,
Peter Foster
