Bermondsey Antiques Market

Heading south of the River Thames brings us to Bermondsey Antiques Market, located in the London Borough of Southwark. This market, held in Bermondsey Square, is on a smaller scale than the other markets and has more of a community feel about it with knowledgeable vendors who have been trading antiques here for years.

It’s only open on Fridays from 06.00 until 14.00 so aim to get here early. Among the bargains to be found are various curios, jewellery, crockery, artworks and some original clothing. Prices are a bit lower than in the bigger, more touristy markets and you’ll find a lot of serious antique dealers here.

There are some great cafés for breakfast in the vicinity of the market and, as Bermondsey is quite hard to reach and not on the tourist trail, it offers a more authentic slice of south London life. The nearest underground stations are Bermondsey on the Jubilee Line or Borough on the Northern Line.
