AFRICA’S FREE TRADE HQ OPENS IN ACCRA
THE SECRETARIAT of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has recently opened in Accra, the capital of Ghana. It was built through a grant of $3.5 million from the African Development Bank.
The opening of these head offices represents a major milestone in the implementation of a major free trade agreement that will encourage intracontinental trade. Trading has been postponed to January 1, 2021, due to the economic ramifications of COVID-19. So far, 54 states have agreed to the AfCFTA – 28 of these have signed the agreement.
