As Africa experiences the vast economic upheaval of the pandemic, it has never been more important for businesses and investors to have access to timely, accurate, and trusted information about the continent.

As firms scramble to react to new rules, regulations, and political realities, we in the media have a crucial role to play in keeping the continent’s decision-makers informed and markets moving.

For the past 54 years, African Business magazine has delivered that service to its loyal readers through eras of extraordinary, dizzying change on the continent, from tracking the dog days of colonialism to illuminating Africa’s incredible rise as a vibrant, vital investment destination.

Since assuming the editorship last year, I have tried to reflect the best traditions of the magazine by improving our offering of corporate news, exclusive interviews and incisive analysis of Africa’s critical business and political events, brought to you by the best writers on the continent, including our in-house reporters Shoshana Kedem and Tom Collins.

Now, we are kicking on to the next stage. This month sees the launch of our new website – www.african.business – which will be the go-to source of information for investors and businesses on the continent.

From exclusive breaking news, features and analysis to data, videos and our podcast containing interviews with Africa’s leading personalities, www.african. business represents an important step forward in our service to our readers. The new site has an attractive, interactive, easily-navigable interface that represents a huge leap forward from its predecessor. Meanwhile, we are redoubling our efforts to bring you our agendasetting monthly print magazine.

The pandemic presents not only extraordinary challenges for Africa, but incredible opportunities, especially for those with access to the right information. As we show in this month’s telecoms special report, businesses are using the crisis to push on and embrace the future – and so are we.

So whether you are tracking the latest M&A deal in South Africa or keeping an eye on regulation in Ghana or fiscal policy in Kenya, our journalists and opinion writers at www.african.business will lay all the tools at your disposal to get fully informed and make the decisions that will allow you to do business on the continent with complete confidence.

Africa’s story has never been more exciting and we have never been more proud to tell it. I cannot wait to share www.african.business and our vital journalism with you, our loyal readers, and look forward to seeing you there. ■
