Korean fashion brand Matin Kim unveiled the new cabin crew uniform for domestic airline Aero K, Monday. This collaboration commemorates the low-cost carrier’s (LCC) first launch at the country’s main transport hub, Incheon International Airport, slated for late May.

The flight attendant uniform, a limited-edition Maxi Hoody Jumper designed by Matin Kim, combines bold styling with practical elements for cabin service.

The hoodie coat has a loose silhouette with adjustable waist strings for easy movement around the cabin and is water-resistant. Complementing the outfit is a Clutch Belt Bag made from cowhide leather, specifically designed for cabin crew needs.

The crew at Aero K started wearing the new uniform on Monday and a limited quantity of the collaborative products will be available at the Matin Kim store at Hyundai Department Store’s branch in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, which is the LCC’s hub.

“Matin Kim’s unique charms met with Aero K’s boundary-pushing efforts to create new synergy,” the fashion company said in a statement. “We will continue to expand our reach to more customers and establish Matin Kim’s unique position by showcasing diverse collaborations across different fields.”

The collaboration has received acclaim for its inventive approach, with social media feedback praising the uniforms as “innovative,” “cool” and “trendy.” Fashion fans and airline customers alike have expressed enthusiasm, with many inquiring about online availability of the jumper and belt bag.

Matin Kim is widely loved by young people in Korea and Japan for its unique appeal. Through a partnership between Hyundai Department Store and Japan’s major retail group PARCO, signed on April 9, Matin Kim and 10 other Korean fashion brands will run pop-up stores for two months from May 10 to the end of July at the Shibuya PARCO, known as a popular shopping spot for Gen Zers in Tokyo.

The company, established in 2015 by designer Kim Da-in, already enjoys notable recognition in Japan. The brand had its successful first pop-up in October 2023, followed by a second one at Hankyu Department Store’s flagship Umeda main store in Osaka in February.

During the seven-day pop-up event, it saw substantial sales thanks to Matin Kim’s core fans who have previously visited Korea as well as a high proportion of female customers in their 20s who are interested in K-fashion.
