Military men behind bars freed for Eid

MoI orders release of jailed policemen

KUWAIT CITY, July 23, (KUNA): Kuwaiti military personnel who were detained on disciplina­ry grounds have been given a pardon ahead of the Islamic festive occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The decision, taken by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces Lt Gen Mohammad Al-Khodhor, was granted so that the soldiers may share the joyous occasion with their families and according to the directions of Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

According to a ministry statement, the minister had congratula­ted members of the military on Eid, wishing them wellness and prosperity, and for the country’s security and stability to continue thriving under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Also, the Interior Ministry Undersecre­tary Lieutenant General Suleiman Al-Fahad ordered the release of all imprisoned policemen, who were jailed for disciplina­ry reasons, on the occasion of the coming Eid Al-Fitr, expected next Monday.

A press statement by the Ministry’s Security Media Department, issued on Wednesday, said the order was taken upon instructio­ns from the Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister and Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The order states that the jailed policemen will be released in the last day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, expected to be Sunday.
