15kg heroin, 141kg hash seized
KUWAIT CITY, July 23: Kuwaiti and Omani security operatives joined forces and busted two Asians affiliated to a ring of drug smugglers operating in GCC countries, and recovered 141 kg of hashish plus 15 kg of heroin.
The find is considered to be the largest drug quantity ever smuggled to the Sultanate of Oman.
Security sources said a communication officer at the Kuwait General Drug Control Department received information from Criminal Information Center of a GCC country about drug smuggling activities conducted in the Sultanate of Oman.
Acting on information, a control team was formed under the guidance of the Kuwaiti communication officer to follow-up the issue.
In the meantime, the Kuwaiti officer guided security sources in Sultanate of Oman to ensure success of the operation in nailing suspects involved in the drug smuggling when negotiation with the gang begun.
The Asians were arrested after reaching a deal with detectives to deliver a quantity of drugs. The suspects are said to have entered the Sultanate of Oman illegally and hid 141 kg of hashish plus 15 kg of heroin on the beach.
During interrogation, the two Asians admitted their affiliation to a ring of drug smugglers from one Asian country directing them to hide the contraband for distribution to other drug dealers trafficking in drugs across the GCC States.

seized: Customs officers at Shuwaikh Port foiled an attempt to smuggle four containers holding 4,306 bottles of liquor imported from an unspecified GCC country.
Security sources said customs men suspected the consignment which was registered in the name of a local company when it arrived at the port, and conducted a search and found the contraband.
Apparently, the liquor had been imported from the supposed GCC country for sale in the local market on the occasion of eid al-fitr. The contraband was referred to the concerned authority and investigation is in progress to arrest the person who made the import.
The Director General of Customs Khalid Al-Saif and Director of the Northern Ports Waleed Al-Nasser with other high ranking officials were present at the scene. Kilo heroin with Indian: Acting on a tip-off and armed with a search and arrest warrant issued by the Public Prosecution, personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control raided the home of an Indian in Jleeb AlShuyoukh and seized from him one kilo of heroin, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the authorities.

seized: Ahmadi securitymen arrested four Asian expatriates and a wanted Bedoun man in possession of 17 white narcotic pills, six sachets of drugs and 16 bottles of liquor, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen had launched security campaigns in some locations in Ahmadi Governorate where they arrested four Asian expatriates and the Bedoun man who was involved in several cases.
The suspects were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them. Foreign liquor abandoned: Police are looking for unidentified bootleggers who allegedly abandoned two cartons of booze and escaped on foot when they saw a police patrol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
According to security sources police saw a group of men on Amman Street and when they drove in that direction the crowd dispersed.
